Economy Bad? Appliance Parts Sales Good.

The *fix* has been simple for America; when a TV, a PC or a DVD player begins to go bad: buy a new one.

This approach might be coming to a halt as the United States economy nose dives io a possible depression. With appliance sales dipping to lows not seen in years, owners and operators of regional repair shops say they're getting between five percent and thirty percent more business than in 2007.

Don Vlastuin, proprietor of A-Tech Appliance Parts and Service in Springdale, Arkansas, states many individuals are choosing to fix appliances and “just get by with the old one.”

Vlastuin states he’s noticed a ten percent to twenty percent rise in appliance parts sales over the last 8 months, but not a corresponding rise in service requests. “People are trying to fix it themselves,” he said.

The Risk In Cheap Appliances

Cheap Appliances
Whenever you go to buy something, you always try to look for the best deal. This carries over to buying appliances too. People have been looking to buy cheap appliances at unconventional stores. These appliances are basically rip-offs of the real thing; it is just branded with some name that no one has ever heard of. For example, a washer that looks exactly like a Whirlpool one actually has the brand name of Tidal. I do not think anyone has ever heard of that. The risk with these appliances is that they can break down easily. The quality of the build is not great.

Choosing The Right Appliances For Family Use

appliances for family use
Choosing appliances for family use can be hard because instead of buying the equipment for one person, many people have to be considered. The most important thing to remember is the safety of the children if there are kids involved. For example, toaster ovens need to be placed far away from the reach of a child so that they will not burn themselves. Other appliances should also be bought with safety in mind. If the family is just you and your spouse, then take into consideration what is useful for both parties. In the end, the most important thing to remember is safety and convenience.
